Repurposing Former Auto Manufacturing Sites
8 December 2011The Center for Automotive Research (CAR) compiled new research on transitioning former automotive manufacturing sites to new purposes, including information from a new database that catalogues all closed facilities since 1979, and lessons learned from seven case study visits. The study was completed with support from the U.S. Department of Labor and the Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers, and is the first of its kind to comprehensively catalogue closed automaker manufacturing facilities across the country.
