Detroit 3 Investments in Michigan
October 27, 2010The State of Michigan has made a concerted effort to retain investment and jobs connected with the Detroit 3 firms. This effort has resulted in the announcement of major investments by all three companies this week in plants in Michigan. Ford is investing $850 million in at least four plants; Chrysler is investing $1 billion in Sterling Heights and Dundee, much of which underlines their commitment to the ongoing operations at the Sterling Heights facility; and GM is investing $190 million in Lansing. This is clear evidence that the financials of the companies are being bolstered, even with a slow improvement in the economy, and we certainly expect more investment in support of these facilities across the region as result of these major investments.
