Automotive Communities Program - Communities working together

Research & Publications

The staff of the ACP has created a number of research documents, databases, and publications.  Publications have addressed topical issues important to all of the ACP participants, such as a unique automotive investment/incentive database—called the Book of Deals.  Also, numerous research papers address the market renewal of automotive firms in the region and the changing dynamic of the supplier industry.

A major study undertaken by ACP staff, with input from the ACP participants, “The Case for Automotive Investment in the Central Automotive Region of North America”, continues to evolve.  Five 2-page briefs have been gleaned from the study focusing on labor force and educational assets, regional transportation, R&D capabilities, manufacturing assets, and quality of life in the region.  The study and its supporting data broadly quantifies the assets of the ACP region.  Continued work on this study will constitute some of the research efforts in the coming year.

Numerous individual presentations, meetings and consultations have also been held with automotive firms and communities across five U.S. states and Ontario during the tenure of the ACP.  Research materials, special presentations and consultation have also been provided to a number of communities facing structural automotive change.
