The State of Kentucky
Kentucky’s automotive industry is located throughout the center of the state, and is comprised of five assembly plants, an engine plant, and over 150 automotive suppliers. These facilities directly employ roughly 36,500 workers in Kentucky.
Kentucky is one of the nation’s top vehicle manufacturing states, producing over 730,000 cars and light trucks in 2010. Vehicle manufacturers include both domestic and international automakers, with facilities relying heavily on the U.S. automotive supply base—both within and outside of Kentucky. Many of these suppliers do significant business with the Detroit Three companies.
