Automotive Communities Program - Communities working together

About ACP

The Automotive Communities Partnership (ACP) is a unique program that brings together community leaders, industry leaders, and other stakeholders with the goal of sustaining and growing the region’s automotive endowment.

The ACP provides communities with guidance on the following issues:
• What manufacturing and supplier companies want from communities
• Helping communities identify emerging technologies
• Informing communities which technologies are becoming obsolete
• Identifying which companies are active in new technology areas
• Ensuring that the skill set of present and future workers is aligned with the needs of advanced technology development and production
• How corporate location decisions are made
• Incentivizing green technology investment
• Energy prices, energy supply and issues that affect manufacturers
• State of the supply base – risks and opportunities
• Washington D.C. from a company perspective
• Vehicle manufacturer initiatives in safety and environmental engineering
• Plant responses to market shifts and resulting community issues

The ACP program distills information in a number of databases:
• Product timing charts - visual representations of new model introductions, platform information, and both major and minor updates to vehicles
• Book of Deals – Database of public incentive “deals” connected to major auto investments
• Suppliers and manufacturer plants in North America—information and maps
• Regional capacity: investments and forecasts
• Sales forecast; sales data; production data and forecasts
• Best practice examples used to attract new investment
• Plants at risk/plant closings
