The State of Ohio

Ohio’s automotive industry is located throughout the northern and western portions of the state, and is comprised of six assembly plants, five stamping plants, five engine plants, three transmission plants, three service parts operations (SPO), and almost 500 automotive suppliers. These facilities directly employ over 70,000 workers in Ohio, and contribute to over $1.2 billion (in 2007) spent in automotive research and development.

Ohio is one of the most prolific vehicle manufacturing states in the country, producing over 1.1 million cars and light trucks in 2010. Vehicle manufacturers include both domestic and international automakers, with facilities relying heavily on the U.S. automotive supply base—both within and outside of Ohio. Many of these suppliers do significant business with the Detroit Three companies.
